Dr. Shehab Farouk – Legal Consultant
After obtaining his L.L.B in 2006 ,L.L.M in 2009 and PhD in 2014 from Faculty of Law – Cairo University, Dr. Shehab Farouk joined Hamad Al Sharji, Peter Mansour & Co. since February 2015 till present acting as a legal consultant being involved in commercial arbitration , drafting and reviewing commercial and investment agreements , providing legal advices and opinions for corporate bodies and clients` interviewing.
Because of his current role in Hamad Al Sharji, Peter Mansour & Co. as a legal consultant , he is in charge of in a very complicated arbitration cases (either institutional or ad hoc) with a total value of each worth millions in US dollars. In addition his involvement in numerous litigation cases concerning commercial, civil and administrative disputes before the Omani courts.
Due to his early participation in numerous arbitration activities such as training courses , conferences , symposiums ,and workshops either domestically or internationally , he became eager to be more involved and active to increase his knowledge in this interesting field and he was keen to be part of speakers, such as Arbitration Academy in Paris, and because of his activities with the academy , he became the Academy`s Ambassador in 2013 . Also because of his contributions in the arbitration events, he became a member in CRCICA (Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration) in 2014 , in ICC YAF ( International Chamber of Commerce – Young Arbitrators Forum ), in LCIA YIAG ( London Court of International Arbitration – Young International Arbitration Group ), in DIAC 40 ( Dubai International Arbitration Centre – Young Practitioners Group ) and in YAAF ( Young Arab Arbitrators Forum )
Shehab`s PhD thesis titled “Arbitration Clause in Public Private Partnership projects– A Comparative Study “ and in 2014 he published his first book in one of the most prestigious publisher “Dar El Nahda Al Arabia “. Shehab has many published legal articles with international law journals specialized in Arbitration (e.g. Journal of International Arbitration & Journal of Arab Arbitration).
While obtaining his practical training in arbitration with a very prestigious and qualified arbitrator in Egypt ,who was amongst the committee which drafted the Egyptian Arbitration Act “Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Samir El Sharkawi “ Shehab gained a very valuable practical and academic information concerning arbitration for more than 6 years. During such period, he used to work closely with Prof. Sharkawi as he was appointed as a Chairman in numerous arbitrations .
When Shehab was teaching the arbitration subject to post-graduates students and junior lawyers with ABA ( American Bar Association “ CLE “ – Cairo office ) for more than 2 years , he was keen to provide the latest updates pertaining the international arbitration to share such information with the audiences in order to have an interactive participations . In additions, he was chosen to participate in a various Moot Courts as an arbitrator to help junior lawyers to develop their practical skills in pleading and drafting memorandums.
